Generosity Pays Off

Read Psalm 111:1 through 115:18

Published: May 28, 2017

It was early Christmas Eve when Jason stopped by the lead pastor’s house. “Hey, Preacher,” Jason said, “get in my truck and let’s go bless a few people.” Jason spent the next few hours driving around town, stopping wherever he felt led, and giving out his Christmas bonus to strangers. The pastor marveled at Jason’s generosity.

Good will come to those who are generous and lend freely, who conduct their affairs with justice (Psalm 112:5).

Jason’s acts of benevolence were not only evident during the holidays but all year long. He was always ministering to people—not just family or friends—but anyone who needed a helping hand. It was more than kindness; it was true Christianity at work.

God promises that “good will come” to generous individuals. One day, all such acts of kindness will be recognized and rewarded in heaven. Generosity is an important principle in the kingdom of God. At Calvary, God gave His only begotten Son as a ransom for many. It was a perfect example of unselfish giving.

Challenge for Today: If your church has a benevolence outreach, offer to help.

Quicklook: Psalm 112:4–9
