Read Ezekiel 41:1 through 43:27
I saw the glory of the God of Israel coming from the east. His voice was like the roar of rushing waters, and the land was radiant with his glory (Ezekiel 43:2).
The Hebrew word ’owr, translated “radiant” in this passage, is defined as something that “becomes light, shines, and is used of the eyes of a faint person when he begins to recover.” Picture the people of Israel hearing the voice of God after a time of darkness and struggle.
Once His glory shines on them, their eyes would lose the sadness and despair and begin to reflect the radiance of God. They will recover from the death that hovered over them. His glory will even affect the land. The people and the land would be restored, for the King reigns.
Although this passage refers to a future time, God’s people radiate His glory now. After His victory on the Cross, He rose to restore people to himself. Darkened eyes are restored when we hear His voice and answer the call to live for Him. He reigns eternally in our hearts, and our faces reflect His glory.
Prayer for Today: May my life radiate Your glory in a dark world.
